Delicious chicken rice in the heart of Orchard, nestled in a corner of the Ground Floor of 111 Somerset.
Rice was perfectly cooked and seasoned without being too oily, chicken meat was tender and juicy, paired nicely with an awesome chilli.
The braised egg was also a true braised egg, not like the many lightly coloured and flavourless pretenders out there.
The soup was pretty mind-blowing too, with more flavours than most by-the-way soups served at other chicken rice stalls.
Hooray! Finally a good plate of steamed chicken rice in town! Ordered the breast meat (my fav part!) and glad it was tender and clean tasting. The chicken rice itself was fragrant and fluffy, while the soup was pretty tasty even on its own — perfumed with ginger and goji berries. Bonus points for the free flow soup!
Also ordered the oyster sauce vegetables ($4.50) which came in a mountain full! I loved that they topped it with copious amounts of fried garlic bits which was an absolute delight to munch on.
I liked the Hainanese chicken rice with the drumstick area instead of breast. Good atmosphere compared to nearby tian tian. No wait for me on Wednesday at 12:30pm. This is my preferred chicken rice in the maxwell/chinatown area. But I'm just a frequent tourist of singapore 😆
Ordered a set meal @ $7.90 for dinner! Comes with a plate of steamed chicken rice and broccoli dish. Nothing spectacular about the chicken rice, but it’s still a good plate paired with the chilli and black sauce. Special mention goes to the broccoli side dish which came in a huge portion and topped with fragrant garlic bits, fried shallots and oyster sauce - it was delicious😋
Tender chicken breast, with a little overcooked soft rice, that is flavourful.
The portion of the chicken given compared to rice is unproportioned. Also, the soup was finished:(
Lastly, the lady who take an order is not so welcoming and rude. We went 4 and ordered 3 plates and asked for 4 pairs of cutlery, but was refused to.
Overall, not bad in terms of taste and if you like soft rice. But I wouldn’t return due to the services and there are many better chicken rice place in Singapore.
Awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand, this chicken rice store does serve a nice plate of chicken rice. I really loved the fact that you can have a mixture of both steamed and roasted chicken. The chicken rice was tasty but not out of this world.
Bad chicken rice. Place smells good but the chicken rice is just bad. Rice no fragrance, chicken is lacking in flavour. I’ve tasted so many more better ones. Don’t waste your calories here, I believe the foodcourt at 313 Somerset would have better food. Left feeling empty and unsatisfied.
we decided to get some classics from this store that we chanced upon on foodpanda! we got their chicken rice, broccoli in oyster sauce, tofu and breaded dory. for less than 4 dollars per dish, the serving of chicken rice was not only generous (with chicken, cucumber, pickled cabbage and rice), but cooked to perfection! the broccoli was slightly overcooked as it was soft, but the oyster sauce gave it the perfect flavour. the tofu was crispy on the outside, yet soft and warm on the inside despite being sent through delivery. our favourite would have to be the dory! it was crunchy and crispy, yet soft in the middle and had the perfect flavour! we would DEFINITELY come back for more and recommend others to try this!
